February 21, 2001 - PickleVatorTM
Award Presentation
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PETER PIPER'S PICKLEVATORTM
CAPTURES 2000 CLEAR CHOICE AWARD IN THE PACKAGED FOOD CATEGORY
February 21, 2001- Green Bay, Wi.
The Glass Packaging Institute (GPI) awarded
its 2000 Clear Choice Award in the Packaged Food category to
Dean Specialty Foods Group's Peter Piper's PickleVatorTM.
The Clear Choice Awards are the glass container industry's
highest honors and reward excellence in glass packaging. Joseph
J. Cattaneo, president of GPI, presented the Steuben Star Stream
Award and $1,000 to James Greisinger, president and general
manager of Dean Specialty Foods Group. The award money was
donated to the company's charity of choice, the Marine Toys for
Tots Foundation. The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation also
presented Jim Greisinger with a certificate of appreciation for
his support of the 2000 Toys for Tots program.
"The Packaged Food category focuses on both
the look and use of the overall package design. Peter Piper's
PickleVatorTM
showcases an attractive glass container along with innovative
utility," said Cattaneo. "The glass jar and vibrant label
highlight the contents and allow consumers to see how the
packaging allows for easy access to the product," he added.
Dean Specialty Foods Group, the maker of Peter
Piper's Pickles, is one of the nation's leading suppliers of
pickles, peppers, relishes, olives, sauces, syrup and other
specialty food products to major retail and food service
customers. "We're very pleased that Peter Piper's new glass
design is the winner of a 2000 Clear Choice Award," said
Greisinger. "We are making it easier for the public to enjoy our
pickles," he added.
The company maintains the leading share of
private label retail and food service pickle sales in the United
States. Originally a regional brand, the Peter Piper package was
recently redesigned prior to positioning for national
distribution. Glass was required to highlight the pickle quality
and the patented PickleVatorTM,
which allows for the serving of pickles without putting fingers
in the jar. This new and unique design sets Peter Piper's
Pickles apart from other brand names.
The Clear Choice Awards competition, launched
in 1989, recognizes products that successfully make glass
packaging an integral and effective part of their marketing mix.
Clear Choice Award winners have donated more than $140,000 to
approximately 40 local and national charities. This tradition of
giving stems from the ongoing commitment of GPI members to
actively support and contribute to the communities where each
company's employees and customers work and live. Judges for the
2000 Clear Choice Awards competition included representatives
from a range of backgrounds, such as package design, academia
and trade media.
GPI is a trade association representing the
North American glass container manufacturers. For additional

May 6th, 2001 - Cinema
"Vader" not the only one sweeping across America this summer
Elgin, IL... The villain in the
classic George Lucas film isn't the only one with injection molded
plastic accessories. An Illinois company is behind the latest product
to help consumers in their everyday lives, a product that has families
in Florida and other select markets
rushing back to the store for more.
Master Molded Products Corporation --
a 55-year old Elgin-based thermoplastic injection molding company --
worked with Dean Foods to develop the Picklevator,™ an
elevator for pickles. The plastic serving basket is located inside the
jar of Peter Piper™ brand pickles.
"We were fortunate to work with
such a successful company to develop this innovative product that has
become so popular in the markets where it is available," said a
spokesperson for Dean Foods.
"The Picklevator manufactured by MASTER MOLDED PRODUCTS has
made our pickles better than the competitors because of its
convenience for consumers. Families no longer have to play 'chase the
pickles' around the pickle jar."
The company has the capability to
custom produce a "turnkey" product from concept to
production. In addition to the Picklevator, MASTER MOLDED
PRODUCTS molds overcaps, dispensing closures, threaded caps, child
restraint packaging and thin-wall containers.

Products behind number one skin care container - Unique packaging
contributes to success of
Bioré
facial cleansing cloths
Elgin, IL... The Bioré
skin care products are tops in their market sector in part because of
the packaging -- manufactured by Elgin, IL based Master Molded
Products -- according to industry officials.
Master Molded
Products created the Bioré
tub for Andrew Jergen's Bioré facial cleansing cloths, a product that
is number one in its category.
The Bioré
product was a unique challenge for Master Molded Products. Currently,
there is no other one-piece tub on the market that splits in the
middle like the Bioré tub does.
The 55-year-old
company has the capability to custom produce a "turnkey"
product from concept to production. In addition to the Bioré
tub, Master Molded Products molds overcaps, dispensing closures,
threaded caps, child restraint packaging, and thin-wall containers.
